Customer Rating: Summary: Best of Ricky Martin Comment: I have been a fan of Ricky Martin since I was a young girl. And yet, I truly wasn't going to buy this CD because after his Livin' La Vida Loca era, I didn't like the path his music was heading, but after hearing one of his new songs, "Tu Recuerdo" on the radio, I went out and bought the CD. This is one of the few CD's where I can say I love every single one of the songs in it. His vocals are AMAZING, the song selection is the BEST and you can truly feel him connecting with the music. He put all of his best songs into one CD and even if you've heard the songs before in one of his earlier CD's it doesn't feel repetitive at all, it's refreshing. I LOVE it.
Customer Rating: Summary: Good music - one mishap Comment: This CD is by and large excellent. The only song that I *really* did not like was Vuelve. I love the song as he sang it in the original album, and the new version is just nowhere near as nice. Goes to prove that you don't mess with perfection!
Customer Rating: Summary: Breath of fresh air Comment: I hope that Ricky realizes that he has finally found his true voice with the release of his Unplugged album. By the way, many kudos to the musicians in this album, each song was superbly executed, which at the same time allowed Ricky to find an ideal platform for his break-through performance. He should continue on this path not only for his fans, but for himself, because it is very obvious that his soul is closer to home in this creation.
Congratulations to all who were part of this. Simply outstanding, a breath of fresh air. This is a must-have CD+DVD
Customer Rating: Summary: Can get enough of... Comment: One of the best CD's I own. I've been listeing to this CD for a half of year now, and I get goosebumps every time I put it in my CD pleyer. Great performance, you should own the DVD too!!!! Five stars no doubt !!!
Customer Rating: Summary: Love this CD! Comment: Ricky Martin is sort of a guilty pleasure for me and I have played "Vuelve" over and over again. Where I find his English language material just so so, I think his Spanish language material really shows a depth of feeling and poetry. I bought this CD because I saw the Unplugged performance on tv and thought Ricky was incredible. He is a real showman and talent. On this CD, his voice is in fine form, the band is tight, and the music just shines. The song "Tu Recuerdo" was one reason I bought this CD, it's beautiful and Ricky and Mari from Chambao are amazing.

By all indications, Ricky Martin's Unplugged opus should be an easy, effortless sell. The charismatic singer is in fine vocal form, backed by a tight band. He makes some interesting set list selections ("Gracias Por Pensar En Mi," "Asignatura Pendiente"). But Martin is also coming off 2005's commercially disappointing Life, which didn't even reach gold status (sales of 500,000 copies). That's a long way down from his Loca peak. It gives Unplugged, then, the whiff of an artist grasping for old glories. Martin was wise to include standouts "Perdido Sin Ti" and "Vuelve," which still shimmer with a lush pop sheen. Both are from 1998's Vuelve disc, still Martin's strongest effort to date. But new tracks "Con Tu Nombre," "Tu Recuerdo," and "Pegate" come off like unremarkable rehashes of past hits. Instead of looking back, this talented singer should be searching for real ways to reinvent his sound and to make his music exciting again. --Joey Guerra
